From president David Levin
In reviewing the latest reports from recent games it has become even more imperative that we as referees concern ourselves with the safety of players more than ever. Accounts of injuries indicate that we need to tighten up our calling of games as suggested at the mid-season meetings. Flow is great in a professional match but we are dealing with student athletes . Call fouls early and establish control. If players show they can and want to play you may be able to relax somewhat. I respect everyone's judgement but I feel a reminder is necessary . You will get very few complaints about protecting players. We must be sensitive to these concerns as the season winds down and games become even more heated. Please take care of business.
